Principal's Notes - December 16th

Dear Memorial Families,
The generosity of the Memorial community always amazes me. We have "Stuffed the Turkey" and will be making a very generous donation to the Bedford Food Bank on the behalf of our Memorial families ... Thank you. I will update you on our item count ... the children really want to know how many items we collected.

NEW NEWS

Guidance Message
Week of December 12:
December 14:  Phrase of the Day:  “When you're tense, you're dense.”  When we have very strong feelings, our brain shuts off and we can't think clearly.  We call it the reptile brain.  We need to take time to cool down, so that our thinking is restored and we can make good decisions.  Peacemaker Challenge: Use Kelso’s strategy of “wait and cool off” when you are upset, to give the thinking part of your brain time to turn back on.

December 16: Phrase of the day: “Anger is only one letter short of Danger”.  If we do things when we  are very angry, we might break the Anger Rules.  The Anger Rules state that it's okay to be angry, but it's not okay to hurt ourselves, others, or property.  Anger that breaks the Anger Rules is called Dirty Anger.  When we cool off and wait for our anger to decrease or subside before acting, we don't hurt others, and have Clean Anger.  Peacemaker Challenge:  When you are angry, calm down so you can follow the Anger Rules.

Lost and Found
Please stop by or have your children check the lost and found for cloth items they have left here. During vacation we will be packing up all the items and donating them to a charity as we do every vacation.

Dressing for the Weather - Recess
Students will go outside for recess (before school and at lunchtime). Please make sure to send your child to school with a warm coat, hat, mittens/gloves, snow pants and boots.  Children are allowed to play in the snow if they have on snow pants and boots.  Otherwise, they’ll have to play on the hot top only.
