Holiday Help
It is endeavors such as this that make me proud and honored to be a part of this community.  Every item requested for the Adopt-A-Family Program was purchased and donated to the school. We can’t thank you enough for your extreme generosity.  This is a special time of year and your assistance helped a number of families be able to enjoy the holidays that much more.

All School Meeting
We all had fun listening to our 3rd and 4th Chorus perform for the first time during our All School Meeting this past Tuesday.  They warmed up the audience for our staff chorus who also performed. Our Stuff the Turkey food drive winners were also recognized for their contributions to the Bedford Food Pantry.  A special "shout out" to everyone who participated, and to our grand prize winner, Mrs. Davison’s class. Thank you to Ms. Magoon for coordinating this fun event.

Book Fair!
Thank you to everyone that supported the school by making a purchase at the Fall Book Fair!  If you weren't able to stop by, you can still "Lasso a Great Book for the Holidays!"  Go to the school's Online Book Fair at scholastic.com/fair.  The Online Book Fair closes on Tues., Dec. 5 and these orders will be shipped to the school and delivered to your child's classroom before Winter Break.

From the Counselor's Desk...
During the month of December, we will concentrate on relationships and problem solving.  Morning announcements will introduce the “12 Keys to Friendship”.  They are:  don’t put others down, tell others what you like about them, make others feels special, be honest, keep secrets and promises (only “safe secrets”, that aren’t scary or dangerous),  be a good listener,  put yourself in the other person’s place, encourage others when they try new things, help others feel better when they make a mistake, apologize if you hurt someone’s feelings, forgive others if they hurt your feelings, and let your friends have other friends. (Source: Teaching Friendship Skills, by Sopris West Publishing)

We will also focus on our Kelso’s Choice problem solving program, implemented school-wide, which strives to empower children to solve problems that are not “scary or dangerous” (thus requiring adult intervention).  Kelso’s Choice is used in schools throughout the country and around the world.  For more information on the program, visit  www.kelsoschoice.com.

SCREENAGERS: Growing up in the Digital Age Documentary -  Join us for a special screening on Wednesday, December 6th 6-8pm at Lurgio. Following the movie there will be a panel of staff and guidance for a discussion and Q&A session.
Are you watching kids scroll through life, with their rapid-fire thumbs and a six-second attention span? The film SCREENAGERS…explores struggles over social media, video games, academics and internet addiction. Through poignant, and unexpectedly funny stories, along with surprising insights from authors, psychologists, and brain scientists, SCREENAGERS reveals how tech time impacts kids’ development and offers solutions on how adults can empower kids to best navigate the digital world and find balance.
