Travel Guidance – UPDATED

Remote Parent Guide

Bedford Reopening Plan

Guest Riders on Buses
Please see this note from our Transportation Coordinator, Anne Wiggin… we are not allowing guest riders on the buses at this time. Since ridership numbers are increasing, we expect that mitigation measures and contact tracing will be more difficult if we were to include guests.

Important reminders from the Health Office:
Please continue to answer the questions on the Daily Screening Tool each day before sending your child to school. If your child exhibits any of the symptoms on the screening tool, your child should stay home and it is strongly recommended to have your child tested.  Your child may return to school once your child is feeling well, 24 hours symptom free without fever reducing medication and has a negative covid test.  Please check with the school nurse to be cleared to return to school.

Allergy season is upon us with the warmer days we have been having. If you child has seasonal allergies, please get a note from your child’s pediatrician for the nurse to keep on file for this school year.  DHHS recommends testing for any new or unexplained symptoms.

Travel and Contract Tracing Guidance (Updated)
  • Domestic travel within the U.S. is still discouraged however, no longer requires quarantine upon return to NH (regardless of COVID-19 vaccination status). This includes domestic travel to U.S. territories. Even though a person may not be required to quarantine, the CDC does encourage people to seek testing 3-5 days after returning from travel for asymptomatic SARS-CoV-2 infection. Children will be allowed to attend school while awaiting the test results.
  • NH DPHS will not recommend quarantine for students or staff if a COVID-19 exposure occurs in the classroom setting where students and staff are seated and spaced at least 3 feet apart with consistent and correct face mask use.
  • The 3 feet of distancing applies to controlled areas only (i.e. classrooms).  It does not apply to recess, lunch and bus.  Those areas will still be contact traced based on 6 feet of distancing.

Kids Heart Challenge

It’s the final push for Kids Heart Challenge! So far, we have raised $8,583 with 89 students registered! We are approaching our school record of $10,125 from 2014. There is still time, as our last day to donate is Thursday, April 1st. This money will help fund research to keep hearts healthy as well as help our schools with education on heart-healthy habits and certificates for PE equipment.

Please click this link to register with our school before Thursday, April 1st. If you have any questions about Kids Heart Challenge, please contact Mr. Vitagliano at vitaglianom@sau25.net

Remote Parent Guide

Bedford Reopening Plan

In-School Hybrid Students
Beginning Monday, March 8th, we welcome all in-school students back on a daily basis Monday-Friday.  Our Remote Students will continue with remote instruction.

While in school:
Distancing:  We will now maintain 3 feet rather than 6 feet of distancing.  Staff members will continue to maintain 6 feet of distancing.  *NH DHHS still requires 6 feet for contact tracing purposes.

Lunch:  Students will be seated 3 ft apart with plexiglass barriers between them.  They will sit 3-4 to a table, spaced 3 feet apart.  Lunch tables will continue to be disinfected and rinsed after each lunch period. Please be sure to continue to pre-order meals. This is extremely helpful in the planning and production of meals. Pre-ordering meals can be done through www.sendmoneytoschool.com. If you have any questions or concerns please contact Emily Murphy (603-472-3755 x 21242) email murphye@bedfordnhk12.net. FYI all school meals remain free until the end of the school year.

The Bedford School District will resume serving lunches on trays rather than in boxes effective March 8, 2021. The FDA has released their findings that Covid-19 is not transmitted via food preparation. Click HERE to read the article.

Recess:  Students will play with their classmates in their designated recess areas with masks on.  Classes will not be mixed during this time.

Drop off/Pick Up:  These procedures will remain the same, but will definitely take longer.

Please have your child/ren ready to exit the vehicle at drop off.  It is important to try and keep Old Bedford Rd. clear for emergency vehicles.

For pick-up, please have your child's name showing in the car window for easy loading.  Once we have a baseline for how the procedures are working, we will make adjustments, if necessary.

Buses:  Buses, most likely, will be fuller.  Students will sit 1 to a seat until they fill up, and then they will sit 2 to a seat.  Students will continue to sit by grade level, wear masks and windows will be open/cracked.

All other mitigation procedures will continue.  We will do our best not to mix cohorts outside of the classroom, but there may be some circumstances when that is not possible (i.e. support services, etc.).

School District Vote on March 9th
Please remember to vote on Tuesday, March 9th. Polls are open from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM at Bedford High School in the gymnasium.
  • Voters will select two people for open Board seats.
  • Voters will decide whether to support the following Warrant Articles:
    • Sprinkler Bond to install fire sprinkler system (Memorial, Peter Woodbury and McKelvie)
    • Contracts for BEA (Teachers)
    • Operating Budget

Kids Heart Challenge
It’s time for Kids Heart Challenge! This program teaches heart-healthy habits and helps the American Heart Association raise money for research and education that saves lives. Students will learn about the importance of taking care of their hearts, making healthy choices, and life saving tips.

Students will make a difference in people’s lives! Ask family and friends if they’d like to donate. The AHA has asked to limit donations to electronic only, so we will not be collecting cash or checks this year. Their donations can help us earn certificates for PE equipment so we can keep our students moving! Our Kids Heart Challenge will continue through April 1, 2021.

If you have any questions about Kids Heart Challenge, please contact Mr. Vitagliano at vitaglianom@sau25.net.
