This last week leading up to our holiday break is full of excitement.  It is so much fun to see the kids each day in a true holiday spirit.  Staff and kids are a bit more relaxed and people are genuinely happy to be together.  We hope you all enjoy the time off with your family and friends.

COFFEE AND CONVERSATION with Interim Superintendent Mike Fournier:  Hosted by the PTG, Interim Superintendent Mike Fournier invites you to “Coffee and Conversation”, Tuesday, January 8th, 6:30PM at Bedford Town Library (Richmond Meeting Room)…LIMITED SEATING-RSVP REQUIRED.
This will be a small, informal gathering to discuss Bedford School District happenings.
In order to be more interactive and personal, seating is limited so you must RSVP here… Coffee&ConversationSignUp if you wish to attend.
This will be a discussion based gathering, so questions and comments will be encouraged.
Additional get-togethers with Mr. Fournier will take place throughout the school year if you are unable to attend or seats are no longer available.

Support for the BHS Swim Team 
Bedford High School swim team will be hosting a movie night this evening from 7-9 pm in the high school theater. "Elf" will be the movie. There is a $3 admission fee and bake sale. This is open to all.

Adopt-A-Family Outreach Program
Once again, we are so pleased with the many individuals came through in order to assist  our families in need during this holiday season.  We do not take for granted how fortunate we are to work in such a caring community.  The wish lists for all of our families have now been completed. Thank you all very much!





















Food Drive
Our annual "Stuff the Turkey" Food Drive was a HUGE success. Proceeds will go directly to the Bedford Community Food Pantry at Bedford Presbyterian Church. As with our Adopt-A-Family Program the generosity in this community is amazing. We can't thank you all enough for your contributions. These generous acts are teaching our children incredible lessons about caring for others.

Ellis Island Day was last Friday
Ellis Island day was the culminating activity for the fourth grade studies on immigration. Last Friday, students dressed up, made passports and experienced a simulation of what it was like to go through immigration.

Adopt-A-Family Outreach Program
We thank you for the tremendous response for our families in need during this holiday season.  The wish lists for several of our families have been completed. BHS Key Club: Gingerbread House Extravaganza Fundraiser
Come celebrate the holiday season at BHS Key Club’s town-wide Gingerbread House Extravaganza fundraiser! Design, create and decorate your very own gingerbread house. Amidst the fun, you can help out families in need by dropping off a much-appreciated monetary donation as the entrance fee for Make a Wish Foundation. Help us spread happiness, and come enjoy the holidays with your family and friends on the evening of Friday, December 7th. For more information, please check out THIS FLYER.


Food Drive
Our annual "Stuff the Turkey" Food Drive continues until December 14th.  Proceeds will go directly to the Bedford Community Food Pantry at Bedford Presbyterian Church. We greatly appreciate any canned or boxed donations you are able to give. Items such as canned proteins (meats, fish, vegetables, etc.), pasta, rice, peanut butter, jelly, rice, flour, sugar and cereal, are especially needed. If you would like to join us in helping our Bedford pantry, please send the items into school with your child. If you have any questions, please contact Lisa Pleat, X-23206. Family Learning Night
Thank you for all who came and participated in our Family Learning Night.  The night was full of fun activities and it was so nice to see the families working together throughout the building.

Ellis Island
We had a wonderful reenactment of Ellis Island this morning with our 4th graders.  Thank you to Mrs. Schmitt, our 4th grade team, the high school students, and many other volunteers who assisted with this project.  

















Congratulations Mrs. Knepper
Mrs. Knepper was a grant recipient offered through The Bedford Craftworkers Guild. She will be working with all second grade classrooms on "Zentangle" relaxation mindfulness activities.

Looking ahead to our Spring Fling
Are you new to Memorial and have never experienced a Spring Fling event?? Or have you been to Spring Fling and looking for opportunities to help out with the event?? The Spring Fling Fundraising Committee is in desperate need of more volunteers to help the event continue to be a success. There are a variety of ways to get involved with this fundraiser which is the only fundraiser where 100% of the proceeds go right back to Memorial School. We will be having a volunteer meeting on Friday December 7th at 9:30am in the Memorial Library for anybody who is interested in helping out. If you can't make the meeting and are still interested in helping or have any questions please email Danielle at dcbmemvolunteer@gmail.com.

DETECTIVE MATT FLEMING PRESENTS…Social Media: A Predator’s Playground: Tuesday, December 4th, 7pm in the Ross A. Lurgio Media Center.
Bedford PTG and Ross A. Lurgio Middle School are proud to host Detective Matt Fleming of the Bedford Police Department as he presents about the dangers that teens face on social media. This 1.5 hour presentation is specifically geared towards parents, educators and community leaders who are looking to better understand the technology available to teens today and the ways in which child predators use it to exploit them. Parents who wish to bring their children should use caution as the subject matter is very mature. Click here for more information.

Fire Department Contest Winner!
Congratulations to Garrett Haggerty who won the Bedford Fire Department's Coloring Contest.  Garrett, along with his brother Adam, were picked up by the fire fighters and brought to school in a fire truck.

Bedford Community Food Drive 
The Bedford Community Food Pantry is a valuable resource for those in our community who are facing hunger or food insecurity. The Food Pantry is a 501(c)3 organization that is a well-coordinated effort between 5 area churches, local organizations, including the Bedford Lion's Club and the Boy Scouts, and individuals and families in Bedford. 
They are always in need of THESE FOOD ITEMS.  They are asking the Bedford Schools to collect certain items each month to support the Food Pantry.  At Memorial, we are asked to collect canned fruits throughout the month of November.  We will have a collection box near our entrance for the items.  Thank you all in advance for your support.

Report Cards
A reminder about Report Cards:
Student report cards are available online only in the PowerSchool Parent Access Portal.  To access your child's report card online, log into the PowerSchool Parent Portal and you will see a Report Cards icon in the left hand pane.  When you click on this icon your child's report card will appear on the screen. You can scroll to see the entire report card and choose to print it, if you'd like.  Anytime you click on the Report Cards icon, the most recent report card will generate. Quarter 1 report cards will be available to view today, November 9th at 2:30 PM.

Veteran's Day  
Thank you to all of our military families for your service.  Our students have decorated a wall in the cafeteria as a tribute to our veterans.  The display will stay up now through November 28th.  This is a great recognition of the sacrifice and service of our veterans related to students and staff at Memorial.

Bedford Community Food Drive 
The Bedford Community Food Pantry is a valuable resource for those in our community who are facing hunger or food insecurity. The Food Pantry is a 501(c)3 organization that is a well-coordinated effort between 5 area churches, local organizations, including the Bedford Lion's Club and the Boy Scouts, and individuals and families in Bedford. 
They are always in need of THESE FOOD ITEMS.  They are asking the Bedford Schools to collect certain items each month to support the Food Pantry.  At Memorial, we are asked to collect canned fruits throughout the month of November.  We will have a collection box near our entrance for the items.  Thank you all in advance for your support.


Pats Peak Learn to Ski and Ride Program

Sign-up for this year's Learn to Ski or Ride (LTSR) program at Pats Peak! This is a five-week Learn to Ski or Snowboard series for students in grades 1-8. The program runs Friday, January 4, 11, 18, 25 and February 1. There are 3:30 and 4:30 lessons available, or if you have an experienced student, they can opt to just do the lift ticket. Rentals are available for an additional cost. You must provide your own transportation, as this is not a school sponsored activity. An adult must be present during the lessons.
