Bedford Reopening Plan

What will Fridays look like if all our Hybrid Students are in school?
As the superintendent shared earlier this week the next phase of our reopening plan is to have all current Hybrid students attend school on Fridays.  Although the plan is not to implement this yet we feel it is important for you to know what to expect.  Due to the number of children in the building some of our current mitigation measures will look different.  Please click the following link to see some of the specific changes. Highlighted differences when A/B Hybrid students come to school on Fridays

Destination Imagination - NEW INFO
Registration is now open for Destination Imagination. New and returning students must complete this google form. Registration closes on Friday October 16th, 2020. Destination Imagination is an extracurricular program that requires parent volunteers. There is no guarantee that your child will be placed on a team, but we work very hard to place every child who registers.

K-6 teams may not use school facilities for meetings. Teams who wish to come together outside of the schools must adhere to same safety precautions as in school, with regards to masks and social distancing. Most teams will meet virtually this year. For more info on this wonderful extracurricular program offered by our district, please check out www.nh-di.org or contact our coordinator, Marie Russell at bedfordrocksdi@gmail.com

From the Health Office
Thank you for all your efforts to have your children follow our safety guidelines. In an effort to answer more of your questions and guide you in the event your child is showing signs of an illness the school nurses have put together this Parent Letter.
We all appreciate your understanding and patience as we work together through this difficult times.

SUPPORT OUR SCHOOLS: This year through donations and Fundraisers the PTG intends to help fund…
  • Enhancing outdoor spaces/playground improvements
  • COVID mitigations supplies for teachers/classrooms
  • Virtual programming and events for students, staff and families
  • Assisting with student needs through guidance and nurse department support

To support the PTG you can donate through PayPal by clicking HERE or by check made out to Bedford PTG (turn into your child’s school or mail to PO Box 10077 Bedford, NH). Through our Support Drive, 100% of your donation goes directly to the schools and students of Bedford.

LOOKING TO VOLUNTEER: The schools and the PTG appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to focus on the safety of staff and students while minimizing volunteers in the buildings at this time. We will communicate volunteer needs as the PTG is made aware of them. Please complete a Volunteer Google Form for each school you have a child attending. To access the form click HERE or you can find them on the PTG website www.bedfordptg.org under PTG Forms. You need to fill this form out in order to hear about volunteer opportunities at the schools or district wide.

COMMUNITY EVENTS WITH ADMINISTRATION: A special thank you to our Principals and Assistant Principals for taking time out of their schedules to meet and share information about their particular school with new families of the Bedford School District.

SKI, SKATE AND MORE SALE for 2020 CANCELLEDWe regret that we will not be able to host this event this year and we look forward to bringing it back in 2021.

Holiday Wishes from your Wellness Team

The holiday season is approaching. This is an exciting time of year as we look forward to happy celebrations with family and friends. Our Wellness Team understands that the holiday season may not be as joyful for all students and families, and can bring stress, fear and even sadness. As always, our school community is here to support you, if needed. Please let us know if you are in need of help this holiday season.

Through the generous donations of others in our school community, we can help. If you know someone that may be having difficulty, please encourage them to let us know. All assistance is confidential. We strive to ensure that all Memorial students have an opportunity to have positive experiences with friends and family during the holiday season.

For those families who would like to help support other families in need during this time of the year, we truly appreciate your generosity. Contact us to coordinate your donations.

Permanent School Substitute Teacher
We are looking for someone interested in becoming a substitute teacher for MEM for this school year.  You would be assigned to Memorial Elementary School four days each week, schedule to be established by school. We are looking for the person to work in-person and possibly remotely during the school year.
Schedule is as follows:
4 days a week
Rate of pay $110/day
Please contact Beth Purcell or Phil Schappler if interested.

Classroom Support
We are sharing to let you know about classroom programs at Memorial School that will enrich your child’s learning experience throughout year. Teacher resources are continually reviewed and organized to allow for the most comprehensive program for students. During instructional portions of the day, a special educator may be working alongside and in conjunction with your child’s classroom teacher. The help can be in the classroom, and at times, outside the general classroom setting. This type of approach is referred to as a Team Instruction model.

Together, these teachers bring to the classroom a broad range of expertise in all subject areas. This approach allows us the flexibility to work with students in small groups or individually as needed. Typically, both teachers will work within the classroom with students, but may work outside the classroom when appropriate.

We anticipate an exciting year of educational challenge and growth for all!

Morning Announcements for Distance Learning & Remote Students
It's been great seeing the kids who join us remotely for our morning announcements. I enjoy seeing them and connecting on their "home" days.  This will continue being done using the Google Meet invitation embed into their Google Classroom doc.  Just type in mem to join.  It will take place each day at approximately 8:05 AM.  It is not required and there’s nothing for parents to do.

Anti-Bullying Partnership Agreement
Please remember to return the Anti-Bullying Partnership Agreement. The District Bullying Task Force developed a Partnership Agreement among students, teachers, and families to better understand and address student conflict, and what is and is not considered bullying.  We are asking all families to read, discuss, and sign this document to help ensure a happy, safe, and nurturing environment for all. Please click HERE if you would like an electronic copy of that agreement.
