Principal's Note - August 28th

Dear Memorial Families,
It was wonderful to see so many of you at Meet and Greet. If you could have been a fly in the wall, you would have seen many smiles and lots of positive energy these first two days of school.

NEW NEWS

Travel to and from Memorial
Just a reminder that the travel to and from Memorial can be very slow due to the road construction around us … please plan accordingly.

AM Drop-Off (Kindergarten through Grade 4)
If you drop your child off at school in the morning (7:30 am to 8:00 am), please make sure you are in the drop-off lane to drop at the front door or park in a marked parking spot and walk your child in. After 8:00 am, you must park in a marked parking spot and bring your child into the building. Thanks for your help in keeping everyone safe!

BEEP Parents
BEEP classes will begin on September 1st. BEEP parents and students will meet their teachers the day their class begins.

Infosnap – Please complete as soon as possible!
Any family that has not completed the online registration for your child(ren) should have received an email yesterday (August 24th) asking you to complete the online registration. The online process replaced all the paperwork we have required in the past. It is important for us to have updated information on your child(ren). Please complete the registration as soon as possible. If you have questions about this, please call Deb Gelinas at 627-1776.

Nurse Helpers Needed!
Our school nurse, Rachel Higgins is looking for parent volunteers to help her perform head checks next week on Wednesday, 9/2 & Thursday, 9/3 from 8:15am - 11:00am.  Head checks are important at the start of the school year to help prevent the possibility of head lice from becoming an issue for our school.  Nurse Higgins is looking for 5 volunteers per day.  Feel free to volunteer for both days if you're able.
Thank you!  Your time and efforts are appreciated by parents and teachers alike.

REMINDERS

Smarter Balanced Assessment Results
Last spring, schools throughout New Hampshire (and in many other states around the country) administered a new test known as "Smarter Balanced."  The tests, in language arts and math, were taken by students in grades 3 through 8 and grade 11.  They are computer-based tests that replaced the annual NECAP assessment.
We have recently learned that the public release of the assessment results will occur in November.  This is a later release date than originally announced.  The delay was caused, in part, by the need to hand score those few tests that were taken using paper and pencil.  The results will include both school and state-wide summaries and individual student level results.  We will send more information as it becomes available to us.
